‘I arrived at Beacon Farm in 2004 aged 13 – a Pony Club rider with a difficult pony and almost ready to give up riding. I am now 21 and have ridden in the Pony Club Nationals, won the Blenheim Pony Club Trials and have competed to Intermediate and one star level on my fantastic Irish Sports Horse that Carol found me. None of this would have been possible without Carol’s superb teaching, limitless patience, infectious enthusiasm and total commitment to both me and my horses.’
‘Thank you for all the help you have given Annabel over the last few years. She has enjoyed many successes with your help, the first memorable one being a win at the Pony Club Novice Dressage to Music Championships at Draycott Manor in 2009 with her previous pony Jasper; but who would have thought at the beginning of last year that her new partnership with Shady (who’s least favourite phase is dressage) would go on to win their arena of the PC Novice Area ODE, finishing on their dressage score and then be placed 7th at the championships again finishing on their dressage score.
But one of the most important things for me spectating is your attention to developing Annabel’s feel and her ability to become a thinking rider with an understanding of the correct way of training so that she has the ability of working constructively on her own. It is also invaluable that your wealth of understanding and knowledge across all the disciplines helps advise us continually, whether it be feeding, bitting, fitness, cross country schooling or working towards her Pony Club Tests.’
Bev Dixon and Kape Kennedy having great success winning at Medium level.
